BOROCHEM WISHES YOU A HAPPY, HEALTHY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!
We have greatly appreciated working with you in 2009 and thank you for your confidence. We hope that 2010 will bring you health, happiness and success, and look forward to collaborating with you again this year.

2010 also marks BoroChem's 5th anniversary with special events to come!

We kick off the New Year with a fresh Newsletter. This newsletter will now be bimonthly, and will feature a Zoom on a selection of newly released products as well as a Focus on a chemical, biochemical or biological application using boron chemistry. These applications can all be customized to fit your specific needs, whether they are unnatural amino-acids or amino-alcohols, rare phenols, hydroxylated heterocycles, diversily functionalised biphenyls or biheteroaromatics among others.

We will continue to expand our catalogue with innovative and high-quality building blocks in 2010, and will, in between two newsletters, keep you up to date with our special offers. Enjoy this 11th newsletter!

FOCUS ON THE FORMATION OF PIPERAZINONES
The design and synthesis of peptidomimetics continues to be an area of intense interest in medicinal chemistry. Piperazinones (2-oxopiperazines) are interesting examples that mimic a given peptide conformation. Using organoborons in a Boron Mannich type Reaction (BMR) can lead to a wide diversity of such piperazinones very easily.

Examples of good partners for BMR, included in our 2010 catalogue, comprise the following compounds:

B06-0006 | 2,5-Dimethylthiophene-3-boronic acid     B06-0009 | 2,5-Dichlorothiophene-3-boronic acidB06-0010 | 2-Chlorothiophene-3-boronic acid    B06-0013 | 4-Methylthiophene-3-boronic acid

B03-0024 | 4-(Benzyloxy)benzeneboronic acid     B03-0025 | 2-Fluoro-5-methoxybenzeneboronic acidB03-0014 | 2,5-Dimethoxybenzeneboronic acid    B03-0006 | 4-Isopropylamino-benzeneboronic acid

ZOOM ON NEW HETEROCYCLIC BORONIC ACIDS AND ESTERS
The following small nitrogen-containing 5-membered heterocycles have recently been released. For more information, click on the compounds.

B12-0004 | 2-phenyl 1-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)-1H-imidazole-5-boronic acid pinacol ester       B09-0016 | 1-(Tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)-3-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazole-5-boronic acid pinacol ester

We are curently working on new 5-membered heterocycles with different functional groups, that will be released throughout the year.
